Dr. Avi Weinreb (CTO)

Dr. Avi Weinreb earned his B.Sc. Summa Cum Laude in Electrical Engineering from the Technion (1972), his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering / Optimal Estimation from the Technion (1979) and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering / Optimal Control from Stanford University.

He served for 25 years at Rafael as a systems engineer, then the head of the systems department of a major missile project, as a marketing executive in Rafael’s US office, as the head of the Barak 1 ship defense missile project and as the head of the Air to Surface programs at Rafael’s Missile division.

On retiring from Rafael, he spent six years as the VP R&D of two medical devices startups.

He was then invited to come back to the Defense domain, joining MAFAT as the Head of the Aeronautical Division, for six years, where, among other responsibilities, he was the architect of the Iron-Dome rocket and air defense system. He then served as the representative of MAFAT and SIBAT in France and NATO, for two years, and then as the Head of the Aeronautical Sciences Division at MAFAT.

Since 2019, when he founded Powder Fuels Ltd., he serves as the company’s CTO.
